| A friend loaned me the book Ever After by Karen Kinsbury and I saw it was a sequel to Even Now, which I ordered from this site so I could read them in order. These are the best books I've read in a very long time!!! I had never read anything by this author before but I just borrowed the "R" series from a friend and I have to admit I have a new favorite author. Well silly me has never read any of this author's books and thought this one looked interesting. I had no idea she was a Christian author. No problem with that in and of itself. I just tried my hardest to ignore the extreme preachiness because I suppose, that's what her followers like about her books.
I will admit I was engaged in the story for about the 1st half, then the implausabilities became too difficult to bear. Some were really laughable, like how in the world an 18 year old was able to find her parents so quickly when no one else could (oh, I forgot, I guess God made that happen and didn't see fit to do it sooner). I also found the easy "forgiveness" for the two sets of horrible grandparents too neat and tidy for my liking.
I know most readers won't agree with me since what I didn't like about the book is exactly what makes her followers love her so. I just wish they would make the "Christian Lit" angle a little more obvious (or maybe I shouldn't pick out books with my kids around making lots of noise!)

There is not one emotion that is not tugged at in this book. I love it because it involves me in book. I can't stop wondering what else is going to happen, how will this be fixed....I like being pulled into books and not just be a spectator! I like to cheer for the good guys, cry for the main characters and boo the antagonist! The author stirred feelings and thoughts I didn't think about before. It is set in a time when to be unwed and pregnant just wasn't a good idea. Mistakes were made that involved too many people and what society thought about them. It made me think about all those children out there that were treated the same way when they didn't have to be!
It is a wonderful book; read it!
