Some books are timeless and A Woman After God's Own Heart is one of them. I purchased this book over 10 years ago and I still go to it frequently for Godly wisdom and encouragement. It has taken me 10 years to write a review, but since I am currently reading through it again, I thought it was time. This book really helps me understand my role as a Godly mom and wife and what God expects of me. Each chapter is filled with Scripture to back up the author's intent, and sound advice and practical items to act on.
One thing that really struck me was the advice to be "predictably happy" as the woman of the house sets the tone for the family. Elizabeth George is so right on with this advice. When I am not happy or in a grouchy mood, it permeates the entire household.
Overall, this book is a wonderful go-to book time and time again for encouragement, practical advice, and biblical wisdom for fulfilling our role as Godly women.

| I read A Woman After God's Own Heart with a group of women at church and we met weekly to discuss four chapters at a time. It was an amazing experience, but I felt that it went by too quickly and there was so much to learn from the book that I bought her accompanying study guide. So now I am going back and re-reading and highlighting and trying to absorb as much information as I possibly can from this book. It is already changing my life and my marriage. I think that every Christian woman should read this book - especially before you get married. I have been married for three years and I wish I understood these principles before I embarked on the marriage journey - it would have saved numerous bumps along the way. I now understand about how to order my life in a godly way. The prioritization of God first, your husband second (and he is your highest human priority!), your children, your home, your spiritual growth, your ministry, and THEN everything else in that order will radically change your life for the better. The study guide helped me to slow down and really engage my mind and think about how these principles could be implemented in my every day life.
